The Value Of Establishing Goals And Efficiently Achieving Them

By Edward Park

Almost everyone has goals in life. However, procrastination is common among many people in regards to working on their goals. Sometimes this is caused by setting unreasonable goals, but most times the problem is simply not having enough time.

It is easy to get discouraged when trying to work on a goal. Many times it can seem like it might take too much time to be able to achieve it, such as losing weight or making a business idea profitable.

Sticking with a goal can be far harder when the end point seems far off, maybe even years away, as most people want instant satisfaction these days. All you have to do is stick with it though and make those dreams a reality.

One trick you should do is imagine what your life would be like now if you had already reached your goals, this may spur you on. Maybe your goal is to get skinny someday, then just think what it would be like to walk down the street right now at your ideal weight.

Just picture how much more additional energy you would have at your disposal, or how wonderful and exciting it would be to purchase new clothes while modeling them in front of the store mirror. If you make it real in your mind, it will motivate you to push on.

By adopting a positive attitude to your situation, rather than only thinking about the bad things in your life, can actually propel you toward your goal. This positivity can actually increase your energy and make you feel better.

Even if the goal is quite large, it can seem more achievable if you can visualize the positive effect that achieving the goal will have on your immediate life. In addition, being able to cross that goal off of your to-do list is motivation as well.

As soon as you are determined to reach your goal, maybe you should compartmentalize the process, splitting it into mini goals. Each will be a small leap forward to the big one.
